Adam focused on home success

Jonathan Adam says he is fully focused on attempting to secure his maiden victory in the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend in his home round of the season at Knockhill.

The Airwaves BMW driver will be one of two Scottish drivers in the field for the Knockhill event, alongside Cartridge World's Gordon Shedden, and will look to make the breakthrough as a BTCC winner for the first time – having earlier lost victory due to a post race penalty at Brands Hatch at the start of the year.

However, while Adam goes into the event as one of the fans favourites, the double SEAT Cupra title winner concedes that he doesn't have much of a home advantage over his rivals and expects a tough weekend on track as he chases victory.

“Knockhill is my local event so it's a big weekend of racing for me,” he said. “There's obviously a lot of expectation on me because of that, but actually the more experienced drivers in the field such a Jason Plato, Matt Neal and my team-mate Rob Collard have all got a lot more racing laps under their belt here than I have. I've never driven the BMW here either so it's going to be a new experience. I'm looking forward to it though and I think the car will go really well here.

“I will be pushing hard to qualify well. That's very important at Knockhill because the track is so tight that overtaking can be tricky. I had three points finishes at the last round and I'm always looking to progress, so bagging some good scores here is my minimum aim but I really want that first BTCC win here in front of my home crowd. That would be a bit special.

“The fans are always great at Knockhill and really enthusiastic about Touring Cars, so hopefully we will get some good weather and a really big crowd.”
