The Lord Provost of Edinburgh will officially begin the Dunlop British Touring Car Festival in the city tomorrow [Thursday] ahead of the latest rounds of the season at Knockhill.

After an autograph session with the public at midday, the stars of the BTCC will demonstrate their race cars along Johnston Terrace prior to their big race event at the Fife circuit.

Public admission to the event is free and the Lord Provost, the Right Honourable George Grubb will wave off the first car at around 1.00pm.

"Edinburgh's Johnston Terrace is definitely the place to be this Thursday," he said. "I'm sure we'll see thousands of people thronging the street to see their motor racing heroes showing off their driving prowess in the heart of the festival city.

"This is a fantastic and exciting spectacle and we're thrilled to welcome the BTCC to Edinburgh once again."
