Herbert confirmed at Team Dynamics

Team Dynamics has confirmed the signing of former F1 racer Johnny Herbert for the final three rounds of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season.

In a deal announced prior to this weekend's race meeting at Knockhill, the Honda team revealed that Herbert – a three time winner during his F1 career – will take over from James Thompson for the events at Silverstone, Rockingham and Brands Hatch, with Thompson already committed to racing elsewhere.

Herbert will become the latest in a long line of drivers with experience of F1 to turn their hands to the BTCC, with drivers like Jim Clark, Jack Brabham and Nigel Mansell having all run in both series during their careers.

“I'm really excited to be racing in the Civic,” Herbert said. “It's very different to what I was used to in F1 but no less of an adrenaline rush.

“I can't wait to get behind the wheel at Silverstone and build on the great results the team has had already this season.”

The team has picked up three victories this season thanks to Thompson, who heads into his final outing with the team inside the top six in the championship standings despite missing the season opener at Brands Hatch.
