Martyn Bell has elected to sit out his second successive round of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season to ensure a full recovery from the injury he picked up during the summer break.
The Team sunshine.co.uk with Tech-Speed driver was forced to miss his first ever BTCC meeting last time out at Snetterton as a result of the injury he picked up during a family holiday in Turkey, but had hoped to return alongside Paul O'Neill for this weekend's round at Knockhill.
However, after last minute discussions with his physiotherapist and with Tech-Speed chief Marvin Humphries, Bell has elected to sit out the Scottish rounds to ensure he is fully fit for the final three rounds of the campaign at Silverstone, Rockingham and Brands Hatch.
“It's a shame to be missing Knockhill as I've had some good results there in the BTCC, but after last minute discussions with both my physio and with Marvin, we took the decision that I will sit this one out to ensure I'm fully fit for the final three races,” he said. “Knockhill is a tough circuit for a driver, and I don't want to risk aggravating my injury if it could then have an impact on the remainder of the season.
“I will be at the circuit this weekend to cheer on Paul and the team, and hopefully there will be more good results to come.”
