Having never previously finished on the podium in the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill, Mat Jackson made amends in fine style to secure a hat-trick of rostrum finishes during the seventh round of the season in Scotland.

Jackson battled hard to take third place in the opening race of the weekend, despite a scare when he was forced onto the grass coming over the start/finish line while taking third from Rob Collard, and he then went one better in race two to finish second behind Fabrizio Giovanardi.

From fifth on the grid for the final race, Jackson quickly gained a place at the start and then climbed into third when he followed Matt Neal through past Colin Turkington on the tenth lap.

When Neal and James Thompson then briefly touched while dicing for the lead, Jackson was able to power past both drivers into a lead he would hold to the flag.

Not only did it give Jackson his second win of the campaign, it also gave RML - the team behind Racing Silverline - its 100th victory to cap a fine weekend for the Chevrolet squad.

"It was just awesome," Jackson reflected. "Before we came here I really didn't like this circuit but I might have to change my mind now! After I was blocked in qualifying and could only set the sixth-fastest time, I would have laughed you out of the room if you'd said I was going to get three podiums today. To come away with this is mega and I have to thank all the guys in the team for giving me such a great car. The Lacetti really is the car to beat at the moment.

"To score three podiums in a weekend is a first for me in the BTCC. We signed the deal to race so late this year and at times it has been an uphill battle. We've some bad luck this season, but today makes it all worthwhile."
