Team Aon are setting their sights high for the final two rounds of the HiQ British Touring Car Championship after enjoying their best weekend of the season at Silverstone.

A series of new developments on the Ford Focus saw Tom Chilton and Tom Onslow-Cole prove instantly competitive throughout the weekend, culminating in Chilton securing a fifth place finish during the second of three races.

Although an accident during the final outing prevented the seven-time race winner from getting the car onto the podium for the first time, Aon team boss Mike Earle was certainly encouraged by the Focus' improved pace.

"It has been a very encouraging weekend for us. Tom's 5th place was obviously a highlight and a welcome boost to team morale. I have to say we had very high hopes for Tom Chilton in the 3rd race, we were confidently expecting a podium finish before he was an unwitting victim of someone else's accident.

"Tom Onslow-Cole experienced a similar fate in the first race, but didn't let it affect him and did a good job for us. The development of the whole package is delivering now and the ongoing improvements we are making won't stop, there is still work in progress and there will be a big team effort to be even more competitive in the last two remaining meetings."
