Jackson out to finish on a high

Mat Jackson will look to end his HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship season on a high this weekend when the 2009 campaign draws to a close at Brands Hatch.

Jackson has enjoyed a stunning second half to the campaign at the wheel of his Racing Silverline Chevrolet, and heads to the season finale on the back of eight podium finishes in the past nine races – with race three at Rockingham being the only race in which he has failed to make it onto the podium in those three meetings.

The results have seen Jackson jump up to fourth place in the championship standings – despite missing the season opener – and he said he was hopeful of ending the year on a high, as he did last year with two victories on the shorter Indy circuit.

“My season really kicked into gear at Knockhill in August and since then I've sprayed more than my fair share of champagne,” he said. “Of course, unlike everyone else this is my first visit to Brands Hatch this year. I missed the opening round in April and so it feels very satisfying, for myself and the team, to come here and round out the year as one of the season's top scorers.

“I had an incredible time at Brands Hatch last year – finishing my second season in the BTCC in second overall – and I hope to take home some more good memories on Sunday night. The grand prix loop is obviously much longer than the Indy layout and it should allow me to stretch the Lacetti's legs.

“I might not be able to clinch the championship runner-up spot this year, but I'll be giving it my best as usual. Given some of the trials we faced earlier in the year, it'll be great just to be there!”
