BTCC marshals boost HiQ appeal

Marshals at Brands Hatch boost HiQ's quest to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care
A group of marshals at the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship finale at Brands Hatch did their bit to boost HiQ's Breast Cancer Care charity drive by raising £1000 during the final rounds of the season.

The team - including one honorary girl in the shape of Dave Booth - collected all manner of donations and even charged BTCC race stars Fabrizio Giovanardi and Matt Neal to park their cars at the track, with their money going into the pot.

“We formed an all girl post at Brands, in an attempt to prove to all those men who think otherwise that we can do a good job!” volunteer marshal Anne Heath said. “Not only that, but we have been keen to raise some money for a charity ever since the season began, and as soon as we heard about HiQ's attempts to get everyone in pink at Brands Hatch, we wanted to get involved.”

Dave Booth was the token man present with the girls all day, after being invited by the women who know him from their days at various race tracks.

“My first wife died of breast cancer ten years ago, so the charity is very close to my heart,” he said. “It was lovely to be with the girls all day. There were ten of us down by the approach to Druids corner, and we had a great time raising money and awareness, in between the races.”

The marshals' fundraising efforts, coupled with HiQ's fundraising drive on the day, helped HiQ to raise a massive £10,000 for Breast Cancer Care in total.
