Paul O'Neill has re-signed with Team sunshine.co.uk with Tech-Speed for the 2010 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season.
O'Neill will continue to run in a BTC-spec Honda Integra for the season ahead as he looks to maintain the kind of form which saw him voted as the fans favourite driver during the 2009 season.
Having made his return to the championship for a full season for the first time since 2003, O'Neill regularly took the challenge to the bigger teams with the highlight coming at Snetterton, where he secured an emotional third place finish.
Now, the former Vauxhall works driver will look to try and take the older-spec Honda to victory during the season ahead and the 30-year-old said he was confident of a solid start to the campaign at Thruxton.
“I'm more excited about this season as I know we have a car which is real top ten material,” O'Neill told Crash.net
. “We tried some stuff on the car during practice for the final round of 2009 at Brands Hatch and it was quicker. We know there is more in the car when we get to Thruxton for the opening round than there was last season, and we could – and maybe should – have had a win then.
“We have to try and make sure we qualify inside the top six and then look to get podiums and at least one win as the season goes on. I really want to be the person who gets the first win for the Tech-Speed team. If I could win a race for those guys then it would mean everything, to me as they have done a lot for me over the years.
“It's like Jenson Button winning the F1 title. To win a race for Tech-Speed would be like a dream come true and it's something I want to tick off my to-do list!”
The team, which also ran Martyn Bell last season, is currently looking for a second driver and could also run a third car during 2010.
