BTCC stars sign up to Help the Heroes
10 February 2010
A number of drivers from the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship have signed up for a charity karting event to raise funds for Help for Heroes – the organisation set up to help British soldiers wounded in conflict around the globe.
BTCC race winners Paul O'Neill, Tom Onslow-Cole and Stephen Jelley are amongst the drivers to have signed up for the Race for Heroes event, a six-hour endurance contest which will take place at the Daytona International Kart Circuit in Milton Keynes on Saturday 27 February.
BTCC support race champions Dean Smith, Phil Glew and Sarah Moore are also due to appear, along with sportscar racers Andy Meyrick and Phil Quaife. BSB riders Simon Andrews and Gary Mason also feature on the 17-team entry.
Aside from the professionals, a team has also been entered for soldiers themselves, led by George Cross and Pride of Britain winner Matt Croucher.
A limited amount of tickets to watch the event have now gone on sale priced at £30, while auctions will also run on Ebay
for the chance to secure a VIP pass for the event or a place on the grid to actually take part. Various items of memorabilia donated by those drivers taking part will also be auctioned off after the event.
