Alex MacDowall enjoyed a solid start to life in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton, with three top ten finishes on his debut for the Silverline Chevrolet team.

Having failed the ride-height test during qualifying, the teenager lined up 15th on the grid for the opening race of the weekend but battled his way through to seventh place.

MacDowall followed that up with sixth in the second race and despite a poor start in race three dropping him down to 14th he battled back to ninth place at the finish.

"It's been a good weekend, to finish all three races inside the top ten and to show I've got the pace to run among the top drivers is a great start to my touring car career," he said. "I really wanted to get a podium out of the weekend, but I'm happy with what we've achieved.

"The main thing now is to carry this pace forward to Rockingham and try and push even closer towards the front. I'm very pleased with my performance and that of the team, everyone at Silverline Chevrolet and RML has done a fantastic job."
