Depper debut in doubt

Forster Motorsport working to ensure Martin Depper can make it back to Europe in time for the Rockingham BTCC round
Martin Depper could be forced to delay his debut in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car championship due to the travel chaos caused by the eruption of the Eyjafjallajoekull volcano in Iceland.

The Forster Motorsport driver has found himself stranded in America with his family after the eruption – and resulting ash cloud – forced UK air space to be closed on safety grounds.

While some airports in the north of the UK have been able to open to limited flights, the majority of UK airspace remains closed – leaving thousands of Briton's trapped overseas.

One possible option for Depper would be to try and find a flight into Spain – where the airspace remains open – with team-mate Arthur Forster prepared to carry out a 2,500 mile round trip to collect him to ensure two Forster cars line up on the grid at Rockingham.

“We're trying to sort it as there are flights going from the USA to Spain at the moment,” he told the official series website BTCC.net. “If we can get him there then I'll drive down to Madrid and bring him back myself. He's my team-mate!”

Should the plans fail to come together, Forster will run alone at Rockingham as the team makes its BTCC debut, having missed the opening round of the year at Thruxton.

Good luck Arthur!! Really hope you can manage to get Martin to Rockingham. Just make sure you don't get stuck somewhere too!! We really need the extra cars out there. There were 20 at Thruxton so if both the Forster Motorsport cars line up along with the missing Lea Wood that will take it up to a more impressive grid! As for the Championship there were some strange stats after Thruxton. Only 4 drivers (Martin Johnson, Shaun Hollamby, Matt Hamilton & Andrew Jordan) came away without any points, and there were oly 6 drivers (Fabrizio Giovanardi, Jason Plato, Mat Jackson, Paul O'Neill, Alex MacDowall & Dave Pinkney) who scored points in every race! Who's championship? Plato i hope!!!
