Tom Chilton was quickest once again in the second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship free practice session of the weekend at Oulton Park – lapping 0.025secs quicker than Gordon Shedden for the second session in a row.
Chilton improved his best time to 1min 27.658secs during the session to once again edge the Honda driver off the top of the times.
Joint championship leader Jason Plato found more speed from his Chevrolet Cruze to set the third fastest time despite being the heaviest car on the grid, with team-mate Alex MacDowall behind in fourth. Tom Onslow-Cole and Matt Neal – who starts the weekend level on points with Plato at the head of the standings – rounded out the top six.
Quickest BMW this time around was Mat Jackson in seventh for Airwaves BMW ahead of James Nash's Vauxhall and the Honda of Paul O'Neill. Rob Collard dropped down to tenth on the times as he focused on race runs in his WSR-run BMW.
Andrew Jordan was eleventh quickest but ended the session early to allow Pirtek Racing to complete an engine change of his car ahead of qualifying, while Arthur Forster ended his session early with an engine issue. Martin Johnson was back on track after his earlier brake issues but was 22nd and last on the times.
