Tom Onslow-Cole stormed to pole position for the latest rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season after a dominant performance from Team Aon at Silverstone.

Onslow-Cole headed team-mate Tom Chilton by two tenths of a second during the session with the Ford duo being the only two drivers to lap below the 60 second marker.

Alex MacDowall was third quickest ahead of Chevrolet team-mate Jason Plato although the pair were six tenths of a second behind the front-runners, while Matt Neal and Andrew Jordan rounded out the top six.

Paul O'Neill was a seasons-best seventh ahead of Rob Collard, with James Nash and Gordon Shedden completing the top ten.

Elsewhere, Mat Jackson became the latest driver to fall foul of the ride-height test as he lost his times and was only able to qualify 13th on his last lap of the session while the returning Phil Glew and Martin Depper both sat out the session.

Glew suffered a driveshaft failure on his YourRacingCar-backed Special Tuning SEAT Leon while Depper's Forster Motorsport BMW suffered heavy rear end damage in an accident in second practice.

Martin Johnson also missed qualifying as he spent the day at his son's wedding, although he will be able to start Sunday's races from the back of the grid.
