Shaun Hollamby will miss the latest rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone after the engine on his AmD Milltek Racing Volkswagen Golf was damaged in qualifying.
Hollamby ground to a halt during the session after the alternator belt on the car broke and became entangled in the timing belt – which damaged the engine beyond repair at the circuit.
As a result, the VW team will be forced to watch on from the sidelines for the three Silverstone races before making a return to action at Knockhill.
“We just don't have the spares that we need to repair the damage here at Silverstone,” he said, “but we'll regroup and be back for Knockhill in two weeks' time where the circuit will be more suited to the Golf and we'll be aiming to continue our push towards a top ten finish.”
Hollamby had qualified 19th on the grid.
