Gordon Shedden set the pace in the opening Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship free practice session of the weekend at Knockhill.
The Honda driver posted a quickest time of 53.395secs at the wheel of his Civic with glorious sunshine bathing the Scottish circuit, with the home hero beating Tom Chilton to top spot by a tenth of a second.
The second Honda of Matt Neal settled into third place as he edged out title rival Jason Plato while Mat Jackson and Andrew Jordan rounded out the top six – despite the latter feeling under the weather after picking up a bug overnight which did leave his participation in the session in some doubt.
Alex MacDowall was seventh, with Rob Collard, Paul O'Neill and Steven Kane rounding out the top ten.
Tom Boardman was eleventh as he switches to the NGTC engine used by Phil Glew at Silverstone last time out, while debutant Jeff Smith was 14th fastest.
James Nash failed to set a representative lap time after a gearbox issue on his car.
