Tom Onslow-Cole will seek to close the gap to leader Jason Plato in the penultimate rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season this weekend at Donington Park.

The Team Aon driver sits third in the standings, 24 points behind Plato, heading to Donington and will hope to replicate the kind of form he displayed at Silverstone last month to bring down the advantage currently held by his Chevrolet rival.

"I am 24 points behind the leader Jason Plato going to Donington Park," he said. "With six rounds to go that's a manageable target but I can't afford to leave Donington that far behind. I have simply got to gain ground on him to be in with a shout at Brands Hatch.

"At this stage in the season the pressure is really on, not just for me but for everyone on the grid."

Onslow-Cole added that he was confident of fighting for a fourth win of the year at the wheel of his LPG-powered Ford Focus, which he is believes will be a strong package at the East Midlands circuit.

"I have had some great races at Donington Park in the past and that has helped make it one of my favourite tracks on the calandar," he said. "It flows so well, one corner leads straight into another, you have to be inch perfect to get the most out of it. If you put a foot wrong in one of those corners, then that puts you off line for the next one and the next one. You really have to concentrate all the way around.

"There is the long back straight which will be good for us but our chassis has been developed a lot too so we will be fast around the corners as well. As a package, we will be strong at Donington Park so I am optimistic of climbing on to the top step of the podium during the weekend."
