Extra ITV coverage for Finals Day

ITV to broadcast an extra hour of coverage of the BTCC finale at Brands Hatch
ITV has revealed that it will show an extra hour of coverage of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season finale at Brands Hatch.

For the first time, four drivers head into the final round of the season with current points leader Jason Plato being chased by Honda pair Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden, as well as Team Aon driver Tom Onslow-Cole.

The four drivers are currently covered by 24 points but with a maximum of 52 available once bonus points for pole position, fastest laps and leading a lap are taken into account, it remains wide open going into the final three races of the year.

“The 2010 BTCC season has once more provided our viewers with sensational action,” ITV Sport's Simon Parry told BTCC.net. “But to have four drivers going into Finals Day with a chance of the title is something else again – we've therefore added an extra hour to our coverage to give what is going to be a fantastic day of sporting rivalry the build-up it deserves. It is going to make for compelling viewing for households right across the UK.”

Coverage of the season finale will start on ITV4 at 10.30 and will run until 18.00.

Chilton by far the best driver? A national series shouldn't be covered? My god, it must be a full moon. How about devoting that extra hour to qualifying on Saturday? Thank god ITV4 covers BTCC, I hope it continues to be on ITV4. The concept of a pay-per-view ITV sports channel is a worrying one.
