YourRacingCar teams with AmD for 2011

6 October 2010

Fan-funded venture YourRacingCar is to join forces with AmD Milltek Racing for the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season.

The new collaboration will enter the 2011 season under the AmD Milltek Racing.com with YourRacingCar banner with the team continuing to run a VW Golf for Shaun Hollamby.

The Golf is set to be fitted with an NGTC-specification during the course of the off-season as the team seeks to make moves up the order in 2011.

YourRacingCar joined forces with the Special Tuning UK team for the Silverstone round earlier this year, running a SEAT Leon for Phil Glew, but will now make a full-time move into the BTCC with the new AmD agreement.

It will give BTCC fans the chance to throw their support behind the driver voted as the 2010 BTCC fans favourite by visitors to the official series forum over the course of the season.

“After our outing at Silverstone, one thing was crystal clear when we spoke to our members,” YourRacingCar chief Hannah James said, “and that is that the BTCC is where they wanted to be. We've been hard at work since Silverstone to look at the options available to us for 2011 but when Shaun and AmD Milltek Racing made the approach, it was a no-brainer for us.

“YourRacingCar and AmD Milltek Racing share similar goals and aims, so it made perfect sense for us to build a partnership for 2011. We're all looking forward to cheering on Shaun on track next season and are confident that he will do the YRC members proud.”

Hollamby himself said he was excited by the new partnership.

“Our debut season in the BTCC has been fantastic and the support we've had in our first year has been more than we could have hoped for,” he said. “We've seen what YourRacingCar has been doing through the season and it's the ideal way for fans to get more involved with our racing programme.

“The reaction we had from YRC members at Donington Park after we offered to run the member pictures on the car was brilliant and with the changes we are planning for the Golf over the winter, we hope to give all of the members – old and new – reason to cheer in 2011.”
