Jason Plato hopes that experience will be key as he seeks to secure a second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend at Brands Hatch.
The Silverline Chevrolet driver goes into the weekend as the championship leader as he looks to secure a second title, but has Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden
and Tom Onslow-Cole
hoping to deny him in the race for the crown.
Plato has finished second in the standings in three of the past four seasons and he said his focus going into the weekend was to simply do the best job possible to take the points needed to earn him championship honours.
“I think I'm old enough and wise enough to know what to expect – so long as my team and I both give everything possible then, win or lose, I'll be able to lie flat in my bed on Sunday night,” he told BTCC.net
. “What will be will be…
“But the hunger is exactly the same as it always was to win this championship. It's a super important championship. It's one that everyone wants to win and it's not easy to win – God knows I know that! It's the biggest and best championship in the UK and arguably in Europe.”
If results go his way, Plato could also overtake Andy Rouse for the most wins in BTCC history this weekend.
