Shedden proud of 2010 season

Success for Honda but Gordon Shedden rues difficult weekend
Gordon Shedden said he was proud of a strong season for the Honda Racing team despite missing out his first Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship title at Brands Hatch.

The Scot went into the weekend as one of four drivers in contention for the title, but his hopes were ended when he pitted with a drive shaft problem after the green flag lap in race two.

A podium finish in race one therefore proved to be the highlight of the weekend for Shedden as he was forced to settle for third in the standings, although Honda took the manfacturers/constructors title and the teams' championship at the end of the weekend.

“I am upset that neither Matt or I were able to reward Honda with a drivers title but just take a look at the way we have performed this season as a unit,” he said. “The car has been fantastic all the way through the year and we have been up against some of the most experienced rivals you could imagine.

“Against that backdrop, we have pushed hard and made the car competitive at every circuit. As a result, we have taken two of the three major titles on offer. It also means we should be really proud of having two of the top three drivers in the championship.

“That shows that Honda is a winning product and that it will only get faster in the BTCC.”

While Honda has confirmed it will return to the series next season, Shedden is yet to be confirmed in a drive.
