5 – Gordon Shedden
The 2009 season was nothing short of a disaster for Gordon Shedden as he found himself dropped early in the season by Team Dynamics, saw his new team Cartridge World drop out and then had to find the budget to complete the season with Club SEAT – making it three teams in one season.
Letting bygones be bygones however, Shedden was back with Team Dynamics for 2010 and took the chance handed to him with both hands. Like team-mate Matt Neal, he benefitted from the extra backing from Honda in what was his best season to date as he took to the top step of the podium five times and finished inside the top three on 14 occasions.
For the first time, the Scot went into the final round of the year in contention for the championship although a retirement in race two would not only end his hopes, but would also mean he missed out on fighting Neal for the runner-up spot.
Shedden will no doubt be pleased to know that his drive for 2011 is already confirmed and with a number of strong performances during the year – most notably as the title race moved towards its conclusion – the Honda man will no doubt be amongst the championship contenders next year.
