Reigning British Touring Car champions RML Chevrolet has announced an unchanged driver line-up for 2011 after it was confirmed that Alex MacDowall will once more drive alongside Jason Plato.
Fresh from the announcement that Plato will defend his BTCC crown with RML this year, MacDowall will resume his seat in the Chevrolet Cruze as he bids to build on a promising maiden season of saloon car racing.
Graduating from the Clio Cup in 2010, MacDowall quickly asserted himself as a competitive contender, scoring a maiden podium in only his eighth race at Brands Hatch.
However, it was his pole positions at Snetterton and Knockhill that earned him a spot in the history books, 19-year-old MacDowall becoming the youngest driver to achieve such a feat in the BTCC.
Targeting the top six in the standings, MacDowall is also eyeing regular podiums and a maiden BTCC win for 2011.
“It's fantastic to be staying with RML for my second year in touring cars, I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of the Cruze and begin preparations for the new season.
“There were some amazing highlights last year and I learnt so much from RML's Silverline Chevrolet Team and from being team-mate to Jason (Plato). The aim for 2011 is regular podiums and, hopefully, wins too.”
