Jackson sets morning pace at Snetterton

Mat Jackson tops the morning times as BTCC teams test at Snetterton
Mat Jackson has topped the times after a morning of unofficial Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship testing on the new Snetterton 300 circuit.

A number of teams have taken the chance to take part in the day long test, which marks the first time that cars have run with official timing in place – giving an indication of the relative pace of the different team and driver combinations.

After early morning fog, Jackson set the quickest time at lunch with a lap of 1m 59.233s, putting him just ahead of the Honda of Matt Neal as the Team Dynamics-run outfit sets about putting the first meaningful mileage on its NGTC-powered Civic after a shakedown at Brands Hatch last week.

Andrew Jordan was third quickest in his Vauxhall Vectra with Paul O'Neill fourth as Tech-Speed continues to test last years Chevrolet Cruze, while Rob Collard and Tom Chilton rounded out the top six – the latter once again at the wheel of the new 'Global' Ford Focus.

Liam Griffin and Nick Foster completed the eight drivers on track during the morning, with the likes of John George, Gordon Shedden and Jeff Smith expected to venture onto the circuit this afternoon.

its a shame to see Matt Neal up at the top of the times but its good to see both Mat Jackson and Paul O'Neil both up at the sharp end, although they better watch out they dont want anyone to run in to them or knock them off in a crass overtaking effort -Matt Neal I'm looking at you
