Andrew Jordan will aim to make the most of his experience of the Next Generation Touring Car engine when the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season kicks off this weekend at Brands Hatch.
Jordan has a season of experience with the engine having raced with one fitted to his Pirtek Racing Vauxhall Vectra in 2010, and set the pace in pre-season testing at Silverstone last week.
While he admits that it is hard to read too much into the testing times, Jordan will now go into the season opener keen to try and repeat his race-winning performance from Finals Day last year and he insisted he would be pushing for victory come race day.
“We are definitely in the best place yet, with what we learned about the turbo engine last year,” he said. “There are a lot more people coming in with turbo engines this year and I think our experience will stand us in good stead.
“We're certainly looking at the bigger picture right from the start of the season. Our aim this year is to win the Independents' title and we've got to approach it in a good controlled way and get strong points' finishes wherever we can.
“The Indy circuit makes for great racing. It's a very, very busy race and you've got to keep that in mind when you really want three finishes from the first weekend. If we're in a position to win, of course I'll go for it!”
Jordan is joined in the Pirtek Racing line-up this season by Jeff Smith, who competed in a one-off at Knockhill last year but now moves into the series on a full-time basis.
