Don’t miss out on Donington!

12 April 2011

There are now only a matter of days before the contenders in the fight for the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship roar into action again at Donington Park – which means time is running out to secure your ticket to catch the latest three rounds of the season.

The first meeting of the year at Brands Hatch showed that the title fight will be wide open during 2011 as the field looks to knock defending champion Jason Plato from the top of the standings.

Plato won twice at Brands Hatch, with Matt Neal taking victory in race three, but Donington Park looks set to be a weekend where Silverline Chevrolet ace Plato won't have things all his own way – with the high-speed Leicestershire circuit looking set to play to the strengths of those teams and drivers running the BTCC's new Next Generation Touring Car two-litre turbo engine.

The turbo cars were quick at Brands Hatch, with the works Honda Civics of Neal and Gordon Shedden, the Triple Eight and Pirtek Racing Vauxhall Vectras of James Nash and Andrew Jordan and the Airwaves Racing Ford Focus of Mat Jackson all dicing at the front – which suggests that only a fool would try to predict the outcome of this weekend's racing action.

However, the turbo brigade would do well to remember the way in which Plato battled back from an accident in the opening race at Donington Park last season to finish on the podium in races two and three on a weekend that played a pivotal part in him ending the year with a second BTCC title to his name.

Write off the defending champion, or the likes of Tech-Speed's Paul O'Neill and the West Surrey Racing BMW of Rob Collard at your peril...

If you don't want to miss out on all the action – which includes the BTCC's usual bumper support package – then time is running out to secure your place trackside for a grand total of eleven races this Sunday.
