Nash pleased to hit the front

20 April 2011

James Nash admits it is a 'great feeling' to have moved into the lead of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship standings, despite the fact that the Triple Eight driver has yet to take a maiden victory in the series.

The 25-year-old went into the Donington Park weekend on the back of a strong start to the season at Brands Hatch and picked up a hat-trick of podium finishes to move himself into the championship lead.

Third in race one was followed by second in race two and another third place finish in race three – giving him six top six finishes in a row this season and a four point lead in the championship.

“It feels unreal to be leading,” he said. “Last year we really struggled but have transformed the car this year with the new turbo engine. I'm actually now starting to get disappointed by just being on the podium – I really want that first win.

“Clearly we've got a good workhorse in the Vauxhall, but we've got to move on. It's a long championship and lots can happen.”
