Allam appointed BTCC driving standards advisor

Jeff Allam named as driving standards advisor for the BTCC
Former racer Jeff Allam has been appointed as 'driving standards advisor' for the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Allam, who held the same role in the late 1990s, will take up the role from the next round of the season at Oulton Park and will assist and advise the Clerk of the Course when investigating incidents on track.

The decision to bring Allam back into the role comes after a number of incidents in the opening three rounds of the year which led champion Jason Plato to admit that driving standards 'must improve' [See separate story HERE].

“I'm delighted that Jeff has again accepted my offer of this role,” BTCC Series Director Alan Gow said. “The amount of very competitive teams and drivers in our championship is fabulous but inevitably can lead to an increased workload, particularly with matters concerning on-track incidents.

“Therefore Jeff's highly regarded input will not only bring a respected driver's perspective to the table, but also help us to provide a more efficient decision-making process at the event.”
