Pirtek Racing will join Honda and Triple Eight in switching to an NGTC car for the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season.

The team was one of the first to embrace the new regulations having been the first to commit to running the NGTC engine last season in its S2000 Vauxhall Vectra and has continued with the same package this year; taking three wins in total through Andrew Jordan.

However, with a number of top teams already confirming plans to switch to full-blown Next Generation Touring Car-spec machines for next season - and with the possibility that Chevrolet could follow suit - Jordan confirmed that the family-run Eurotech outfit will also run an NGTC car in 2012, with the exact model still to be confirmed.

"I can't go into too much detail yet about which car but our Vectras are up for sale," he told BTCC.net. "We should be able to make an announcement in about three weeks.

"Pirtek has also agreed to remain our primary sponsor through to the end of 2013 at least which we are delighted with - they really see the value of promoting their brand through competing in the BTCC, are both hugely enthusiastic and pro-active about the project and are just the perfect team partner."

Dynojet, Speedworks, Rob Austin Racing and Welch Automotive have all run NGTC cars this season with Thorney Motorsport also set to appear before the end of the year.

TH Motorsport has also revealed plans to build an NGTC Skoda for 2012.
