Jason Plato says he is excited about making his debut for the MG KX Momentum Racing team in the opening round of the new Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season this weekend at Brands Hatch.
The two-time champion joined the team during the winter but heads into the opening meeting of 2012 with just a brief shakedown test under his belt with the MG6, which has been developed by the Triple Eight-run outfit over the off-season.
Despite that, Plato said he couldn't wait to get the season underway although he admitted the first weekend of racing would be very much a case of getting to know his new machine.
“I'm incredibly excited about this weekend, the first in the new 2012 season,” he said. “The car looks absolutely amazing and Triple Eight deserve a lot of credit for pulling all the stops out.
“This weekend is all about getting to grips with this NGTC car and realising its potential and the Indy Circuit is one I've had great success at so I genuinely can't wait.”
Team-mate Andy Neate said he too couldn't wait to get the new season underway having switched to the MG team from Team Aon.
“It will be fantastic to get to Brands Hatch and get the season underway,” he said. “I'm so excited and really can't wait to see what the MG6 is capable of. It's been great seeing the car come together over the last few weeks and all credit to Triple Eight for getting us ready against such tight timelines.“
