Mat Jackson says he is keen to hit the ground running when the new Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season gets underway at Brands Hatch
Jackson heads into the new season with unchanged packaged after Motorbase – now running under the Redstone Racing banner - elected to retain its NGTC-powered Ford Focus STs for the season ahead, while a number of rivals switched to full-blown NGTC-spec cars for the 2012 campaign.
It means Jackson starts the season with a proven, race-winning package underneath him and he said he was keen to make sure he made a solid start to his programme.
"I'm genuinely very excited about the season ahead,” he said. “The team behind the Redstone Focus, Motorbase Performance, know it inside out after a very strong season developing it in 2011 and we've moved it on a few more steps over the winter.
"It's vital we hit the ground running and make the most of a car we already know while others, like Honda and MG, who've built cars to the new NGTC regulations are still getting to grips with their cars.
“Brands Hatch is a circuit I've always done well at and it's also the team's home circuit so we need to go in all guns blazing and get off to a flying start. The atmosphere is going to be electric - it's what it's all about.”
