Bratt joins Oulton Park grid

Will Bratt to make his BTCC debut at Oulton Park
Former single-seater racer Will Bratt will make his debut in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend at Oulton Park after agreeing a deal to join Rob Austin Racing.

The 24-year-old will be at the wheel of the team's second Audi A4 but will be the only representative on track, with team boss Rob Austin forced to miss the event due to the fact that his car is still being repaired after a crash at Thruxton.

Bratt, a race winner in F2, tested the car at Rockingham and has currently signed a deal for Oulton Park only.

“Hopefully it'll be the start of a longer relationship,” Austin told BTCC.net. “I think he's seen the potential of the Audi and wants to be part of the programme…

“I don't think getting him up to speed in a touring car will be any problem. He's already a very quick driver and we saw that at Rockingham where he was very good straight away. In fact I think he's going to be very exciting.

“Unfortunately I'm not able to race as my own car is still being repaired following its very big shunt at Thruxton. Will is going to be in our second car which is fully prepared to the latest 2012 specification. But I fully intend being back out for Croft and we've also got on top of the engine problems that we're affecting us at Thruxton and Donington Park.”

Mark Hazell was due to have raced the Audi this season but stood down from the position without competing in a single race for personal reasons.
