Neal secures Croft pole

Matt Neal takes pole at Croft as Honda lock out the top three spots
Matt Neal secured his first pole of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season after topping the times at Croft.

The Honda driver posted a best time of 1min 24.900secs which was enough to see off the challenge of Andrew Jordan's Pirtek Racing-run Civic, with fellow Honda driver Gordon Shedden – points leader coming into the weekend – third fastest.

Fourth on the grid went to the Toyota Avensis of Frank Wrathall after the Dynojet Racing man benefitted from changes made to his car since Oulton Park to take his place on row two.

Jason Plato was fifth despite stopping at the hairpin in the closing stages of the session with an electrical issue on his MG while Rob Collard completed the top six in his eBay Motors BMW.

Rob Austin celebrated his return to the grid with seventh ahead of Mat Jackson, with Andy Neate and Tom Onslow-Cole rounding out the top ten.

Elsewhere, the returning Paul O'Neill endured a tough return to the series with throttle issues during practice limited his time on track and meant he will start down in 18th on the grid.
