Rob Collard admitted he was thrilled to secure a double win from the latest rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill.
The eBay Motors man had won the opening race of the year at Brands Hatch earlier in the year but went to Scotland hoping to rebound from a tough weekend at Snetterton – where his run of scoring in every race this year came to an end.
Collard qualified second and then led the opening race in its entirety – aside from a single lap when he allowed team-mate Tom Onslow-Cole through to earn an extra bonus point.
Repeating the feat in race two as he again led Onslow-Cole to the flag, Collard ended his weekend with ninth in race three for a soild points haul that helps him close on Andrew Jordan in the Independents title race and also strengthens his overall championship placing.
“In the first two races, the car was the best it has been all season,” he said. “It's good for me to pick up two wins after the disappointment of Snetterton and it's been a brilliant weekend for the whole team as all three of us have picked up some good results.
“It would have been good for me personally to take more points off Andrew Jordan in the final race but the rain before the start meant we weren't able to go with the tyres we were going to run and then I got caught up in a clash that damaged my steering. Overall though, I can go home happy.”
Team-mate Onslow-Cole was also pleased with his double podium, while he ensured a strong weekend on his side of the garage ended with an impressive fifth place in race three despite starting in ninth with extra ballast in his car.
“We've picked up a fantastic points haul this weekend and it's been our best one so far this season,” he said. “The whole package was great this weekend. The chassis was fantastic, the Neil Brown Engine was really strong and we had a great set-up that worked perfectly.
“It was good to be on the podium in the first two races and I really enjoyed race three as it was enjoyable to battle in the pack and work up the order. The team has done a brilliant job.”
Nick Foster in the third eBay car picked up a hat-trick of top eight finishes on his strongest weekend of the season so far.
