Having endured a difficult season in 2011 with two teams working on developing new cars, Tom Onslow-Cole 'headed home' in 2012 after agreeing a deal to rejoin West Surrey Racing – the team that gave him his BTCC debut back in 2007.
There was a fresh challenge as the team fitted turbo engines to the BMWs it has campaigned since Onslow-Cole's debut season, but the team was on the pace from the outset – with Onslow-Cole taking a podium finish first time out at Brands Hatch.
It would be the first of seven podium finishes over the course of the season although there would be no trip to the top step, despite him arguably being the quickest of the three eBay Motors-backed drivers – as seven fastest laps over the season showed.
There were some tough weekends, such at Thruxton where the BMW simply wasn't suited to the wet conditions, while Knockhill was a real highlight as Onslow-Cole took a brace of second place finishes on the team's best weekend of the campaign.
Although expected to stay with the team for 2013, Onslow-Cole has instead elected to take on a fresh challenge with a move to Team HARD to drive one of its new Volkswagens - with both team and driver hoping the move proces to be a succesful one.
