Reigning Renault Clio Cup champion Jack Goff has secured a move to the BTCC
for 2013 after inking a deal to join Team HARD.
The youngster edged previous champion Paul Rivett for the 2012 crown, taking the top honour by just three points after a season filled with consistent results, including two early victories.
“Jack is really on a roll having just won the Clio Cup in front of the BTCC
crowds and he's just the sort of driver we want in our team as we build for the future," team owner Tony Gilham noted, “He is tremendously talented and, for his age, also extremely mature in his approach. He is definitely going to be a name to watch for in 2013.”
Goff will pilot one of the team's two NGTC class Vauxhall Insignias as he fulfils a lifelong ambition of racing at the peak of touring car competition.
“It's a dream come true and I'm massively excited about it," the 21-year old told btcc.net
, "I've seen what the team is doing with these cars – it is a complete redevelopment – and I'm confident about my debut season in the BTCC."
Buoyed by the achievements of previous Clio Cup graduates, Goff is hoping to be in the mix for podiums from the start of the season, although he refuses to get too carried away until the action starts.
“I'm staying realistic, but two of my previous team-mates from Clios, Dave Newsham and Aron Smith, both won races in the BTCC
in 2012," he pointed out, "I was a match for them in Clios so I'll be looking to emulate that in 2013.”
