Adam Morgan will racing under the Cicely Racing banner when he returns for his second season of competition in BTCC, and says that preparations for the new season are going well.
Morgan won his début
BTCC season with Speedworks Motorsport after clinching the 2011 Supercup victory together with the Ginetta
BTCC Scholarship which went with it. He endured a tough rookie year in the UK's top touring car series, but still managed to establish himself as a quick qualifier with an average starting grid slot of 11th place.
He collected his first championship points mid-season, and went on to finish inside the top ten in four races, locking up the title of
BTCC Rookie of the Year decided by the votes by the readers of influential motorsport website
TouringCar Times.
"We all got on and did the job and enjoyed ourselves, and we had a very successful year," said Morgan of his début season. "We had some good results, like qualifying fifth at Snetterton, but it was a steep learning curve and I made a few mistakes. I learned a lot and this year should be a lot better.
"I know the
BTCC is a big step up but hopefully we will get more success and enjoy ourselves," he added.
Now racing under the Ciceley Racing banner for his sophomore season, Morgan is hoping to build on what he learned in 2012 to achieve even better things this year, but knows that competition will be as tight as ever.
"There is so little difference between the guys at the front and those in the midfield that you have to be on top of your game the whole time," he said.
Morgan knows that a vital Key to success will be having solid technical support back in pit lane. "I have a good, experienced team behind me," he said, revealing that his 2013 season is to be boosted by the recruitment of a new chief engineer with vast experience in the form of Paul Ridgeway.
“Paul has a brilliant success record in touring cars and he is absolutely the right man to be helping us," said Morgan. "We also have two full-time mechanics, Martin Kenyon and Michael Sparks, both of whom were with Ciceley in 2011 and also last year with us at Speedworks."
Morgan said that he himself is also lending a hand with the build of the team's new Toyota Avensis. "We have managed to get a lot of weight out of the shell already and the target is to be right on the minimum,” he said, adding that he hoped the first shakedown of the new car would take place mid-February.
