Organisers of the Renault Clio Cup have announced that the 2013 title winner will secure a test with the Motorbase British Touring Car Championship team.
The driver who comes out top during the season ahead will get the opportunity to sample the team's NGTC-spec Ford Focus and will also win the use of a new Renault Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo for a year.
The opportunity for the winner to sample the BTCC machine has been made possible thanks to assistance from Dunlop, who take over from Michelin as tyre supplier to the Clio series this season.
“This really is a fantastic prize package,” returning championship manager Simon North said. “Added to the prestige of winning one of UK motorsport's biggest and most coveted titles, our champion will also have the chance to showcase their skills in a current specification NGTC touring car. On behalf of everyone involved with the Renault UK Clio Cup, I'd like to say a huge thank you to Dunlop and Motorbase.
“Renault UK's unfaltering commitment to national motor racing is key to the long-standing and continued success of the Clio Cup, the provision of a brand new Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo road car for this year's champion is yet further proof of the importance Renault places on the championship.”
Numerous drivers from the Clio Cup have gone on to compete in the BTCC, including Tom Onslow-Cole, Dave Newsham and Aron Smith. Defending champion Jack Goff steps up to touring cars this season in a Team HARD. Vauxhall Insignia.
