BTCC frontrunner Andrew Jordan
will test a state-of-the-art Ford Fiesta rallycross car next month after being invited to try the car by Andreas Eriksson of the Olsbergs MSE team.
The invitation marks a return to his roots for Jordan, who first made his name in rallycross. Having won the 2007 British Rallycross Supercar title, he has always maintained a strong interest in that branch of the sport, and credits some of his outstanding car control, particularly in slippery conditions, to his rallycross experience.
Now, he will travel to Sweden on 4 June to test for the standard-setting Olsbergs MSE squad in one of their Ford Fiestas. The team runs the factory-backed Ford team in the American Rallycross Championship and also runs round one winner Tanner Foust in the FIA European Rallycross Championship.
“I've spoken to team owner Andreas Erickson for the last couple of months and he rang me the other day to offer me a test, with the view of working together in the future,” Jordan revealed, “Obviously, my prime focus is the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, but it will be a fantastic experience to sample the latest generation of rallycross car.”
Straight after the test in Sweden, the Briton will fly back to the UK to prepare for the next three BTCC races at Oulton Park over 8-9 June.
