Wrathall seeks strong home run
6 June 2013
Frank Wrathall will hope to put his misfortune behind him when the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads north this weekend for the fourth round of the year.
The Dynojet Racing man endured a challenging weekend at Thruxton prior to the spring break and goes into his home event sitting down in 13th place in the championship standings.
Having worked hard over the break to get to the bottom of some of the issues faced last time out, Wrathall heads to Oulton Park optimistic of a strong weekend as he seeks get his campaign back on track.
“We've shown the pace this season but for one reason or another things haven't all come together for us on race day,” he said. “I'm hoping that Oulton will see a change in our fortunes and that I can get three good race results under my belt.
“We've had a full day testing at Donington Park, and that went very well and helped us get to the bottom of the problems we were having at Thruxton. We traced it to damage to the shock absorbers, probably caused by hitting the kerbs early on in the meeting. It explains a lot of our issues.
“I haven't scored the points I would have liked, so I'm hoping that there will be a change of luck for us this weekend. I love Oulton Park, and not just because it is our home circuit. There is always a massive crowd and a great atmosphere. I didn't do too well there last year - we 'turned the corner' with the new car after the Oulton Park and Croft events - so the Toyota we are taking there this time is a very different machine and, I hope, a lot more competitive.”
Wrathall has also confirmed he will return to the Silverstone Classic later this year driving a Vauxhall Cavalier, as he did twelve months ago.
