Fans flock to Oulton Park

12 June 2013

Series director Alan Gow insisted that the crowd seen at Oulton Park was testament to the continued appeal of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after more than 40,000 people flocked to the Cheshire circuit for the fourth round of the campaign.

The bumper crowd made the most of the warm weather conditions to catch up with all the action as Jason Plato won twice and Andrew Jordan once; closing the gap between them and points leader Matt Neal in the process.

As well as the action on track, those fans who elected to camp overnight were treated to a visit from a number of drivers as Andrew Jordan, Tom Onslow-Cole, Rob Austin, Daniel Welch, Ollie Jackson, Jack Goff, James Cole and debutant Aaron Mason visited the camp site to spend time with race fans.

“Sunday's crowd figures and general atmosphere at Oulton Park are testament to the continued strength and appeal of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship,” series boss Gow said. “Circuit owners MotorSport Vision ensured the venue was in fantastic condition and everyone involved in the BTCC plays their part on putting on a first class show, both on and off the track.

"It is thanks to a collaboration of people – from drivers, teams, partners, sponsors, marshals, fans through to the wonderful free-to-air TV coverage from ITV that ensures the BTCC remains the hottest ticket in town.”
