Michael Caine will make his return to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend in a one-off drive with the Addison Lee Motorbase team.
Caine will be at the wheel of the third NGTC-spec Ford Focus on the grid having carried out the first run in the car during a test at Snetterton earlier this month.
The current British GT champion – who heads into the Croft weekend buoyed by a maiden GT win at Snetterton – will run in a striking black livery thanks to support from Autoglym, who will back the 43-year-old for his return.
It will be Caine's first appearance in the series since 2011, when he competed in two events in a Super 2000-spec Focus.
“I absolutely loved it the last time out – so if this weekend can be as good as that, then brilliant,” Caine said. “I'd like to say a massive thanks to Autoglym and everybody else that has been involved and helped to make this happen.
“I'm really looking forward to being able to support the team once again, and hopefully we get the results that they deserve this weekend.”
Team boss David Bartrum meanwhile said he pleased to see Caine rejoining the BTCC side of the team for the Croft weekend.
“It's great to get the opportunity to race the third Motorbase NGTC and we're really looking forward to seeing what Michael can do in the Focus this weekend; especially coming off the back of such a great weekend with our first GT race win,” he said.
“Autoglym have been a great supporter of the Motorbase Performance team for a number of years now and we're delighted to have them on-board in such a big way for the new NGTC's debut appearance. Like us, they constantly strive for the perfect finish every time; and with any luck we can put a shine on their weekend with a good set of race results.”
