Knockhill Racing Circuit: MG seeks to bounce back

Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff struggle for results on a tough weekend for MG at Knockhill
MG pair Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff will seek to bounce back to form next time out at Rockingham after a challenge outing at Knockhill during the latest rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season.

Having been right at the sharp end of the grid throughout the previous meeting at Snetterton, both drivers struggled to run at the front throughout the Scottish race weekend.

Plato had to settle for a best result of fourth from the three races, with the double champion admitting that the Triple Eight-run squad had struggled to get the best from the MG6 GT.

“We tried so many different things with the car over the course of the weekend to get the car to react positively, but we just couldn't get it to handle the way I liked.

“It was very frustrating and it shows that we still have to work hard – and by that I mean myself, the team and all the engineers. We have got to completely erase the memory of this weekend and think about Rockingham because we have got a set-up that we know works there. We dominated race one at that circuit last year and we have just got to think about winning some races.”

Team-mate Tordoff also struggled for results, with a best finish of eighth and a retirement in race three after alternator failure sidelined him before the start.

“We never got on top of the car,” he said. “We struggled through to two top tens and then in race three we had a car fault.

“We don't know why our pace was so far adrift at Knockhill. Over the course of the weekend, we had changed massive things on the car and it has not had any effect. We were outside of the window to get the car to work well and when you are out of that, the car doesn't respond to changes.”

Was lucky to get 4th when Morgan was penalised for something Plato would have (and has) got away with........... Funny in his interview the Team have gone from the "Best on the Grid" too "Just not working hard enough"............. Maybe the driver should take some of the blame.

whitew - Damn right, his best should've been 5th. Morgan was robbed, and Platipus has got away with much worse. Amongst other things, improving the sound of the MG would be a positive. By far the worst exhaust note of any race car.
