Aiden Moffat has become the latest driver to sign with Team HARD. after inking a deal for the final two rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season.
Moffat, who debuted in the series at Knockhill in a Super 2000-spec Chevrolet Cruze, will race the NGTC-spec Volkswagen Passat driven by Tom Onslow-Cole and Andy Wilmot so far this season.
The 16-year-old will test the car for the first time this week ahead of the penultimate round of the campaign at Silverstone, having taken the decision to switch teams following the technical issues that the youngster encountered during his debut weekend.
Engine issues on Saturday in Scotland prevented him from taking part in second practice or qualifying, while a suspension issue then saw him crash out of race two; missing race three as a result of the damage sustained.
“Aiden is a real star of the future in the BTCC,” Team HARD. boss Tony Gilham said. “We've been talking to him for a while and we're delighted to be able to give him this opportunity for the rest of the season. He showed good promise at Knockhill but unfortunately the reliability wasn't there in his car. We hope to change all that by providing a reliable and quick car for him show his potential.
“There's no pressure on him but we're excited to see how he gets on before hopefully building a long-term relationship.”
