Dynojet Racing's Frank Wrathall says a return to the top ten in qualifying will be key in securing a strong result at this weekend's penultimate BTCC round at Silverstone.

Wrathall, who regularly qualified his Toyota Avensis well in the top ten during the opening meetings, has seen his Saturday form dip within recent rounds - qualifying a disappointing 19th at Rockingham to confirm his woes.

"We need to be back in the top 10 in qualifying," says Wrathall.

"We have lost qualifying performance over the last couple of rounds and we need to get that back, because starting too far down the order puts you on the back foot."

Wrathall qualified his Avensis within the top three this time last year at Silverstone and believes he can repeat that form on a circuit which seems to suit his cars strengths coupled with a new engine his Dynojet team has installed and tested for this weekend.

"We've put another engine in purely because the previous one had reached its allotted mileage after being used and abused all year.

"It has been installed and we tested at Mallory Park last week to check that everything was running right.

"A lot of it is about how well your engine is performing. The Wellington Straight is such a long one. If your engine is strong then you'll be in a good position.

"We were quick at Silverstone in 2012 and hopefully we can repeat that, but as always it's a question of how our car performs on the day compared with everyone else's," Wrathall concluded.
