It turned out to be a season that lurched from one disaster to another, and which came to a disappointing end with his car buried in the barriers at Brands Hatch.

Fast forward to 2013 however and Morgan was arguably the most improved driver on the grid after a fine season that saw him regularly challenge for points and secure a break-through maiden podium finish.

Having returned to the family-run Ciceley Racing team - and with ace engineer Paul Ridgeway keeping an eye on things - Morgan was a man transformed on track as he emerged as easily the best of the four Toyota drivers.

From the first round of the year at Brands Hatch, Morgan was a firm fixture in the top ten and could have won at Thruxton had he not run wide across the grass at Church while leading race three.

A first podium followed at Oulton Park while the Lancashire racer would score points in 26 of the 30 races to finish an impressive seventh in the championship.

Firmly marking himself as one to watch, Morgan will now take on a fresh challenge in 2014 as his teams develops a new Mercedes A Class; the first time the German marque will have been seen in the series for more than 30 years.
