Jack Clarke has been confirmed as part of Motorbase Performance's driver line-up for the 2014 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship driving a Ford Focus under the Crabbie's Racing banner.

Set to mark his debut in touring cars, Clarke comes to the BTCC having established his career in single-seater and GT racing thus far, with stints in the Formula 2 Championship, the World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series.

For 2014, however, Clarke will swap to an NGTC-specification Ford Focus prepared by Motorbase Performance but entered as Crabbie's Racing after the drinks firm announced it would back the 26-year-old in 2014 in a deal that will see him race under unique livery and branding.

Having had a taste of the machine during tests at Brands Hatch and Snetterton, Clarke is now eager to get his season underway.

"I'm delighted to be joining the BTCC and I'm thankful to both Crabbie's and Motorbase for the opportunity. The BTCC continues to go from strength-to-strength, and I'm excited to be racing in Britain's premier championship.

"The calibre and quality of the field is very high and it'll be my first year in touring cars, so I'm under no illusions as to how tough it's going to be. Testing has gone very well and I obviously have confidence in my own ability, so I cannot wait to take on this exciting challenge with Crabbie's Racing."

Clarke joins returning former champion Fabrizio Giovanardi and an as-yet-unnamed driver in the three-man Motorbase Performance fold, though the Italian will compete under the Airwaves Racing banner.
