Triple Eight Engineering insist their MG6 will only get stronger and stronger as the BTCC circus arrives at Donington Park this weekend.
The KX Clubcard Fuel Save outfit sit second in the team's championship after a competitive showing at Brands Hatch which yielded two podiums courtesy of lead driver Jason Plato and three consistent points finishes from Sam Tordoff.
Plato, chasing an 83rd BTCC victory this weekend, says his 2014 spec MG6 – boasting a new aero and damper package – will suit the Donington layout more so than the tighter Brands Hatch circuit.
"Everyone is motivated after Brands. The team is confident coming into this weekend and the new aero package and dampers will come into effect more here; the faster circuits like Donington and Thruxton should see us get better and better.
“The championship is looking great this year and I'm looking forward to another competitive weekend."
MG's rising star Tordoff targets to be fighting much nearer the peak of the field this time around after failing to make an impression on the front-runners at Brands Hatch.
“Three point finishes and three good starts were what I took away from Brands,” said Tordoff.
“Donington is a very different circuit to Brands and it should suit our car a lot better; we're heading there with some optimism. I think the field will be spaced out a lot more, but with the field that we have in the series this year, there won't be any easy weekends.
“I want to be at the front and regularly on the podium, so Donington is important for us; we need to bag some solid points this weekend to get back in the fight for the championship and take the challenge to the BMWs and Hondas."
