Pirtek Racing's Andrew Jordan says he expects a much tougher second BTCC meeting at Donington Park this weekend as the championship leader carries full ballast from Brands Hatch.
The reigning BTCC champion immediately laid down an ominous marker by efficiently clinching the opening two races at the Brands season opener while further boosting his championship tally with points in race three.
As a result Jordan's Honda Civic carries a full 45 kilos of success ballast and predicts qualifying might not provide the same outcome as his blistering pace enabled at Brands Hatch.
“We go to Donington with full weight and I think that's going to make more of a difference this year for qualifying because there are more people up at the front of the pack,” said Jordan.
“We'll try and qualify as well as we can with the weight but to get another pole will be very difficult.”
Jordan also added that now is time to methodically go about building on maintaining his championship supremacy this early in the season.
The Pirtek man currently enjoys a slender two-point cushion ahead of Honda's Matt Neal who in turn only sits a point ahead of BMW's Colin Turkington.
“We need to be in championship mode all the time now: consistency will win this championship.
“It's not going to be about the number of race wins, it will be about who scores the most consistent points through the season and that's what we'll try and do.”
