Airwaves Racing's Mat Jackson says he's targeting to challenge for victories at Thruxton tomorrow after qualifying his BTCC Focus fourth on the grid and in contention.
2014 has so far been a difficult season for the Motorbase squad with both Jackson and Fabrizio Giovanardi struggling to get to grips with their Focus ST.
However, Jackson hinted an upturn in form during the final race of the day at Donington Park where he finished just off the podium in fourth – equalling that result with his qualifying effort today.
“Yeah, great result. P4 puts us right in the mix for the race tomorrow so yeah, we're happy with that,” Jackson told crash.net
“There have been a lot of changes made to the 2014 car. The car is a massive improvement from last year; you can see that from the results we're managing to turn out now.
“Obviously on the back of Donington, which was a cracking result, we've come here to Thruxton and emulated the same success.”
Jackson believes now his team are finally getting a handle on their Focus machine it leaves them in shape to start challenging for top results.
“So I think looking forward to tomorrow I think we're in a good shape to challenge the guys for an outright win and rest assured that's where we're heading.”
